Thanks for the link maverick75. That 5.0 is pretty impressive with just a tune and bolt ons. What 60's muscle cars of any make did you ever see or hear about boasting those time slips? I also thought that this 5.0 aoutmatic was very impressive with just bolt-ons a tune and gears.

I believe it is more like considering how broke 80% of the Maverick owners are. I fall into the 80% myself. If a had money to play with without hurting my livelyhood, I would do the 5.0 swap. It would make for a nasty Maverick. The automobile manufacturers have deffinately, finally made engines that will outperform the pushrod engines cube for cube. A 2011 302 c.i. engine in a 3600 car running 11.90s with just a tune and bolt-ons, wow.

I figure that's a decent price, you'd have that much into building an engine that is comparable, and as reliable as this one will be.
This was at the Super Swap last weekend in Columbus Ohio.

Yes sir, that sounds really resonable, specially considering it's this model year's engine.

I'll *stuff* a 427 cammer in my Maverick before any of this new tech

but no the new 5.0 is a very impressive engine and the new v6 offered in the mustangs is a great leap from last year.

wow that is a decent price! i thought about doing this too. however this engine is super wide!!!! if anything i would have to put a rack on my car first and dump the shock towers before i even consider doing this. or maybe i will just do an ls2 in it. lol!

Psh just put in a K20 haha. You can get one for half that price, then with the other half hop it up to get 400HP N/A. And get better fuel economy :D

I highly doubt that. That basic engine design has been refined for over a decade now and at a time when technology gets better every day rather than every couple years

Those 5.0 engines passed Fords "Engine Boot Camp". That's where they do things like run em' at wide open throttle for like 15 days or something. They do all sorts of mean things to prove they're tough. They are definitely no joke.

When Road & Track put the new Stang with the 5.0 on the dyno it made 435 or so horsepower at the flywheel :) Or 10 more than the 6.2 liter LS3 in the Camaro. I love that Ford still understates their cars horsepower :) Which explanes this article at OnlyFordMustangs.com
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new Coyote Engine Dyno Test of the 5.0 found in the 2011 Ford Mustang showed just how underrated the new powerplant really is.

    Round 1 Dyno Test:
After a first run on the dyno, the new 5.0 liter Mustang Coyote engine hit the ground running, with 460 horsepower at 411 pounds of torque.
Compare that to the advertised 2011 Mustang specs for the engine of an already impressive 412 horsepower and 390 pounds of torque.
    Not bad huh?
    Round 2 Dyno Results:
Not wanting to blow up a brand new motor, they contacted Ford Racing, to find out what the maximum rpm limit was, that they could safely use for the test.
The news was interesting. Apparently, you can run this Coyote engine all day at 7,300 rpm.
And I don't doubt, that part of that reason is the dual overhead cam setup, combined with a racing style oiling system, that includes separate jets to squirt oil inside each individual cylinder.
Have I kept you waiting too long? Sorry. Here's the results of the big pull on the dyno. How about 465 horsepower, at 413.7 lbs of torque.
    Yeah, Baby!
I'm having a hard time not wondering just what this would be like in my next Mustang restoration / build, a 1970 Boss 302 tribute

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I want one :)

They did the same thing on "Horsepower TV", they had a guy from Ford there, and he called someone to see how high they could rev it. Pretty good advertising!

I used to work for Bob Bondurant (back when they had real cars)-Fords. We used to get concept cars and cars with developmental power plants. We beat the crap out of those cars all day long with track temps in the summer some times getting to 140-150. Some of the Euro and Asian spec cars were bad azz. How would you like a Mondeo with rear wheel drive and a supercharged 4 ltr mod V8? We also got to flog would would eventually become the Ecotec turbo V6 in a contour. Fun- Fun-Fun!
