I am sorting out what the past owner messed up with my mav. He was attempting to put a/c in with non mav parts, he had some blue x-mas lights hooked up under the car with the seat rail bolts, put a cig lighter in it,tach, had a switch for his amp and the lights. aside from that I found a grey box, something like 3x6 sorta. its hooked in with the wireharness looks factory but I havent seen it on any of my other mavs, can i take it off? here is the part #D4AB-14A554 A3D

I am not sure what the box is...but I wouldn't recommend removing it.

What year Mav? If it's a 74, the box might be part of that seatbelt interlock system that was around for a year or so. (seat belt not buckled = car won't start). Since most people didn't wear seatbelts back then, the solution was to buckle the seat belt, then get in the car. Another glitch was if you had a package on the front passenger seat, the car wouldn't start (enough weight to trigger the seat sensor).
