Can someone tell me what the difference is in some Mavericks interior door handle location? Why are mine part of the arm rest and some are down low by themselves?

    Are they interchangeable?

I think it was 73 that they changed. they are not interchangeable. The inner door skin is different too.

When they first changed over to the lower handle, some of these newer style doors also had the old mounting holes for the armrest handles under the inner panel but as time went on, that option went away.

Unless you have a 73, some of them have doors, that have provisions for both styles. Both my 73's are like that. It was discussed a few years ago, and some posted pictures of both style doors.

i have a 73 and my door handles were crap. mine hooked to the door with 3 bolts, so i removed it and put a piece of chrome chain for a door pull and it has worked perfectley and looks pretty cool

This is what I had to do to a 73 door to make it fit my 74+ door handles. The black stuff is POR-15, inside and out.
