Pulled parts today for a front disk brake conversion for my Sprint. Found a later Maverick in a junk yard that hadn't been picked over yet. Got the disk brake setup and an AM/FM radio. Radio was supposed to cost $20 but, apparently, the windshield leaked and the radio was all rusty. Declined to buy it but the guy said "take it". Think its a long shot that it'll even turn on but I'll try it. Complete disk brake setup with EVERYTHING was $100. Calipers are good for core only and doubt that the rotors will clean up within spec. Still a good deal, I think.

That settles a debate I've been having with myself. Suspension and steering needs work but wasn't sure if I was going to go all the way with MII like front end, aftermarket disk conversion, or just do the disk swap and rebuild everything stock. Got that settled now. Will think about the disk swap and front end rebuild when I finish the Taurus fan and Traction-Loc installs.

Great find on the disk setup. Im sure u'll like them better than drums. I wud just go w/ new rotors and rebuilt calipers and hoses. I was lucky, my car came w/ disk. Whoever had it B4 me had put on new rotors and 10" rear drums, but everything else, I replaced, including the MC and all hoses. I drove the car home from Wisconsin abt 225 miles w/ it barely stopping. That was a foolish move. I was fortunate I made it w/o incident. I wud not do that agn :naughty:- I wud put it on a trailer or have it transported. The images are what the wheel cylinders look like when I removed them.
I also have all new ball joints, bushings and stuff to go in my front end. They are all Moog rubber except sway bushings.

Yeah, I had some cyl like that too. I'll scrap the rust off the rotors, mic them and see what I've got. If its close I'll get new ones. Think the Ford rotors are much better than the cheap aftermarket and the good aftermarket are kinda expensive. Will definitely get rebuilt calipers, master cyl, and new rubber lines. Some day. Got a few things to finish up first. And a Traction-Loc install to pay for. Just had to grab the stuff while it was still there.

Couldn't believe how easy everything came apart. A squirt of PB Blaster and everything came loose. Broke the ball joint nuts loose and took them off with my fingers.:dancing:
