    Hello All,
Any suggestions on how to "clean" out my gas tank. 76 Mav. and its full of rust ( i suppose). I know how to take it off, but i've got no idea what type of chemicals, sealer, etc., to use. I'm just really starting off working on these things, so any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

check for a how-to by mavaholic. how-to swap in a 1965 mustang tank. cost is about $175 including the pickup. also gives more room alongside of tank for tailpipes. cleaning the old one out and then seeing how much longer it will last wasn't worth the aggrevation to me. new one was worth it; took a couple of nights work, but nothing too bad. check it out.

i also had my tank cleaned and boiled. then i had that really expensive lifetime coating done. it costs 200 for everything but its worth never having to worry about rust. ever. mike

thanks guys. I'm going to look into both options (buying a new one or getting the inside boiled and cleaned). I'll keep you guys posted.

before you go and spend all that money to have it done by somebody consider useing the fuel tank repair kit that por-15 sells. I have used the tank repair for motorcycles and plan to use the car kit for mine. It is very easy to use and does a very good job. Plus it only costs 54.95 and comes with everything you need. Just be sure to pour the cleaner in the tank outside. It has a tendency to foam out the top of the tank.
