Put a hose clamp on the DS With the screw opposing the largest weight on the shaft and see if it gets better. You do need to confirm that U-joints are good and damper hasnt slipped. Good luck!!!

Check the transmission mount. I bet it has separated and is letting the tail shaft move around. Push up on the rear of the trans, if it lifts up and the inside of the mount doesn't move then you have more than likely found the problem. Good luck.

As was previously stated, check your u-joints! They will usually seize up before they get loose. When they are seized, they will make a very bad vibration. Take the shaft off the car and move both joints. They should move back and forth easily, but have no looseness. On the rear one the cups that mount to the differential should turn easily and have no looseness.:)

    vibration

I had a problem similar to your vibration problem .. turned out to be a couple of broken clutch plate springs , one was laying in the bottom of the bell housing (have a peek..) so when i powered up.. the clutch was actually slipping and grabbing so fast it felt like a vibration..it was an older clutch, and the remainder of the springs were very brittle ..once we got the clutch plate changed over, a couple of the old springs literally exploded when i hit them with a hammer .. good luck.

I've been chasing this same problem for a while now. We've changed all the wheel/axle bearings, rebuilt the brakes, and even had a new driveshaft built. The car has always had a starter engagement problem so I suspect the transmission may have an internal problem. It's a early 1970 with the 200six and 3-speed auto so of course it has the ring-gear on the torque converter.

Yo checaria todas esas cosas. Ojala y resuelvas el problema pronto.
    Saludos, Julio
