:huh:I have a 70 Mav with a 200. I have had it for 2 months without a problem, aside from an exhaust leak at the donut gasket. Yesterday I drove to work and the engine would stall out every time I came to a stop. I would restart it and it would hesitate before running again. pressing the gas while in drive, it bucks and hesitates and sputters.........What the heck happened I guess would be my question. Any Help?

Would too much oil cause this? I have just changed the oil and filter. I have also set the points, gapped the plugs, and had some old gearhead rebuild the carb. I am new to Maverick life and again, any unsarcastic help is greatly appreciated!

A number of things could be the cause of course. I'd start with the most simple and replace the fuel filter. If it's loaded with stuff you might need to check for mess in the fuel tank as well and deal with that too.

Fuel filter and tank are both less than 2 years old. I've drained the tank and it is free of rust and debris. I do have the choke wide open because the spring is broken. It seems like it runs noticably better when the air cleaner is off but it's probably my head playin games with me.

I just had this very issue with mine not even two weeks ago. It turns out for mine my spark plugs were bad. As soon as I replaced them she ran beautiful again. Hope it helps

Thanks all. I got lucky with adjusting the idle and everythin is running sweet again. I sat and stared at the motor and thought of how cool it would be to have a cool header setup. Think I'll look into that.

Yea i am new. I have a 51 Buick too so I'm on a couple straight 8 forums with a lot of jackass members who would rather rant about how stupid your question is rather than provide some useful advice or helpful solutions. I like bein a part of this forum and so far, you all are knowledgable and respectful which goes very far. Thanks again.

i have the same issue at times and indeed it is carb issues. I have an old holley that has a problem with the rear float sticking and flooding the poor bastard. you have to adjust these thinds as the seasons change! Just yesterday i had the problem for one stop and it has been weeks since the last episode...rebuilt the carb before and even bought a second carb for parts for $20... swapped out floats.....no luck...you will appreciate this forum....we all rock!!!
