Well got the 302 in.. just have a slight problem...vibration was originally an 84 stang motors switched out the double sump/cover for front sump and correct mav cover.. switched from stang serp to maverick brackets. used a 50 oz flex-plate bought from board member with correct tooth count could the imbalance be from crank pulley since its a mavs...which would mean its meant for a 28.2 0z motor? if so where can i get a 50 oz crank pulley that's not made for serpentine and that will work with the mav 3 belt system! summit? if so link please
well, if you have a 50oz flexplate id say it needs a matching balancer but im not 100% sure an 84 needs a 50oz. Either way it has to match at both ends. edit:Yes, i cought it on mercs post the pulley wont matter just the balancer.
The crank pulleys are not imbalanced. But, what harmonic balancer did you use? The harmonic balancer, crankshaft and flywheel/flexplate all need to match the desired imbalance.
truthfully, i dont remeber but this should cure the problem correct? http://www.bcbroncos.com/store/prod...edium=cse&utm_campaign=Sept_export#googlebase
If its an 84' 302... It is 50oz...You need to replace the Mav balancer (28oz) with a proper 50oz balancer. Spacers can be had to go with allmost any aftermarket balancer on the market to allow you to use your pulleys if necessary.
Did you do a # check on the engine making sure it is a 50oz engine and not an older one that riquires a 28 oz flywheel?
harmonic balancer was already on the engine when i bought so it should have been the correct one I'm going to check to see if i still have the 28 oz flexplate in the basement.. bbut could the flex plate or stall converter cause it if it wasnt installed correctly? havent cchecked the fire order but It drives well besides the obvious vibration..
