    Check your ignition switch.

The ignition switch is on the steering column. You need to lower it from the dash to get to the switch.

If you want to test the ignition switch circuit without messing with the steering column first, you can check it with a multi-meter on the solonoid.

The small wire that goes from the solonoid, to the coil's primary (red with light green), should not have voltage on it (not have 12V dc) when the key is in the off position. (Measure this with respect to your battery's ground terminal (black multi-meter lead on battery ground).

Check that, and tell us what you find.

I'll add the next step of the test, just in case:

    1. If you measure 12v on that solonoid wire with the key off, then do this: disconnect that solonoid wire from the solonoid, and do the measurement again with the red mulit-meter lead on the solonoid wire. If you have 12 volts on that wire, when disconnected from solonoid, and key off...looks like you have a bad keyswitch.

    2. If you have nothing on the solonoid wire, and 12v on the disconnected solonoid terminal...you have a bad solonoid.

I haven't checked what you guys have said yet, but what doesn't make sence is the fuel pump turns off with the key. Ignition and fuel pump on same wire.

You must have an aftermarket fuel pump because I don't believe Mavericks came with electric fuel pumps.

You need to give us more info....because there is more than one way to wire an electric fuel pump, and interlock it with a low oil pressure switch. Wiring depends on setup of oil pressure switch, fuel pump, solonoid, keyswitch wiring etc. The ideal way is to have it pumping when cranking, for safety, but it's possible to wire it to pump with key on, before starting, (and running of course) and not pumping when low oil pressure.

    1. How many wires does your fuel pump have on it?
    2. How many wires does your low oil pressure sensor have on it?
    3. It would help if you could take pictures of your wiring setup and post them.

Doesn't sound like your wiring is all factory. If you modded the alternator wiring, try pulling the electrical plug on the alt, start it and see if it turns off with the alt disconnected. It might be back-feeding current into the ignition circuit...

I found it. I had the coil wire on the battery side of the silonoid. It was hot all the time.
