I know how hard a good tank is to find and I thought I would share this from E-bay in case anyone here needs it. Its not mine but not much time left and bids are low so far. Later Tim http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2487686994&category=34204
So far thats a really good deal for the tank, I have an NOS `70 tank that I payed 122.00 for about 3 years ago.
I email the guy to find out if it has a sending unit / pickup included with it - it does NOT Question - on a 70 model tank, is the sending unit / pickup in the front of the tank or the side?
Wow - price has really jumped - add the $28 for shipping too! I would rather do the Mustang swap and get a tank with a sending unit and a drain plug. But if you want an NOS tank, I guess it is still worth it.
I don't think you can do the mustang swap on a 70 because the tank goes through the trunk floor instead of being strapped on like the later models. Stephen
Wow $202.50!!! It went for more than I thought it would, I would have like to have one myself, but $202.50, and $28.00 for shipping!
It's a different tank than the 71-77, so I didn't have a choice. On the 70' the gas tank is the floor of the trunk. First one I seen in a while. Mine has a big dent and a past repair. Told you it would be a last minute bidding war.
This is what I had in mind for a replacement tank. You can't beat the price. Has anybody tried to fit one of these into a 1970 maverick tank opening? I will be changing my 1972 over to this style of tank. I should be able to hang it under the trunk floor with only minor modifications to the tank straps. My engine is a 1968 and I have no need for the fuel vapor return system. I will have a vented gas cap like the 68's had. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2488220643&category=34198
