Towing your pull behind camper/trailer with your 6cyl Maverick

I don't think I would want to do it, but 1969 trailer life seems to think the Maverick faired pretty well from the little bit I can read

anyone for descending a steep grade with 9" drum brakes and a 6cyl?

 

It really makes you wonder doesn't it?

Now I know why my parents were always so concerned about us driving when we were teens. It was the equiptment we were working with.

4 inch wide 13 inch rim Bias ply tires, little bitty drum brakes, headlights that were so dim you had to light a match to see if they were on, dash lights that were the same way. Then you have Trailer life telling everyone to take a 2,400 pound car with all of the above deficiencies and tow a trailer down the road with it. LOL

Now a days I am planning on sending my Son out on the road in a 4 x 4 SUV that looks like a sherman tank compared to the old Mavericks and Falcons and Vegas of the days gone by. hahaha

 

Those little 16" campers only weigh about 1500 pounds. Do-able....but I wouldn't want to do it!!

 

Considering how most trailer hitches, were mounted to Mavericks, that alone would be scary!!

 

one of these would look great behind a mav. just match up the colour(s) and you'd be good to go. looks pretty light too so i doubt it would be much effort to pull. the one in the topic pic is a lot bigger than i was expecting. i thought it would be around the size of the one i'm talking about. anyway, here's the pic.

 

I hope you have upgraded beyond the 9" drum brakes...

 

Towing safely and properly will go a long way. I kind of doubt there will be a lot of city driving with it behind. And don't tow for a long time with the 200 just to make sure. Now a 302 or maybe 250----maybe?

I'd do it with a 250. A 200/170 would be sketchy.

This would be good behind mine with the 250. I do have power dics and power steering. I just need to figure out how to mount the hitch that I have to the car.
