I need some ball park figures on what putting dual exhaust on might cost. Gong all the way out the back with tailpipes. Looking to dump the side pipes. Are there any prefab parts or kits that might fit? Or is this a total custom job?
yep ours was 400 for 2in duals prior to this we bought a summit 2.5 for 65+ stang but didnt seem to work...lil did i know all that would have been needed to do was switchout the mufflers for ones with different offsets.. so now i have to sell the summit system lol
Full custom is the way to go. My mandrel bent and tig welded system was a trade so I couldn't tell you how much, but you definitely want it to fit.
Did the same thing with a kit from Summit thinking I might just have to "tweek" it some. Needed to be "tweeked" way too much. Brought back to Summit today......... Looks like a trip to the exhaust shop..........
I still have to return mine..huess i'll have to pay shipping and 10% restocking fee if its a stock/mild 302 might as well just go 2in to help with backspessure/lowend
I used the 2-1/2" '65+Mustang kit from Summit and had to slighly tweek one bend on the right tailpipe. With the correct offset in/ center out mufflers, it fit perfect. I used '70 Mustang hangers for a factory appearance. You won't find anything any cheaper or easier than that.
2 1/4", headers back w/ H-pipe and full tailpipies (I supplied the mufflers) cost me $225 at the local shop. I've been debating getting the Summit Mustang kit, though.
Dual exhaust done! Looks good! Sounds Punk! Supplied a couple of Flowmaster 40's and hangers. $300.00 even for the rest out the back. Now onto to swapping the carb on the 302. 750 cfm is too much.........oh, yeah, and now the body work!!
