If I remember correctly, the interference is caused but your ignition system. New cars have a way of insulating against this. Not sure how you'd solve it on your mav.

    its ignition system noise.
what do you have for a stereo system and ignition system?
there are ways to get rid of that noise depending on what you have

Tie a knot in your coil wire(The one from the coil to the cap) and see if it goes away...If it doesnt, you will need an RF supressor.

A whining noise can be caused by the alternator, a static-like noise is ignition. They both vary with rpm. Noise can come through the radio power wire or the antenna. Unplug the antenna and see if you still have the noise. The Pioneer should already have a line filter on the power wire. If the noise is coming through the antenna sometimes you can just add a ground wire to the hood.

you are getting AC from your alternator on your power line you'll need to get a AC filter its more or less just a capacitor and a few diodes hooked up to your stereo power line to filter out any AC that is leaking on to it. Radio shack mite have some if not their a CB shop would.

i would go with the AC filter still the isolator only gets the hum off the speaker you hook it up to, that AC is still getting into your stereo which could be bad for it in the long run.
