I'm Brian and I'm a new member. I'm restoring a 63 Mercury Comet. I've a 200 ci straight six with C4 transmission out of a 70 Maverick that I'm currently working on dropping into my Merc. The car is gong to be for my 17 yo daughter. Very excited to have this forum as a resource.

:Welcome: From Utah is the 63 Comet the one with the cross hair gunsights on the front of each fender? I remember my dad had a 63 and a 62 with the cat eyes and a 57 ford truck so you can see my dad brainwashed me at a young age Ford, Ford, Ford, and an International truck.

Depends upon the model. I believe the base model had the chromed cross-hair gunsights while upgraded models had the sleeker/more elongated chromed gun sight. I appear to have a fender from each. The holes accommodating each ornament are different and I will have to decide which I like better very soon.
I especially like the red tail lights with their chromed bezels that jut from the rear. Looks like little rocket flames. Not quite the bullet lights of the old Caddys, but close. Looking for LEDs to replace the original bulbs to make them really pop. The 63 was also the last year with the tail fins. Not quite yet the muscle car that the comet was soon to be, but with all that space aged/Buck Rodgers like esthetics designed into it I think the designers were already dreaming of going fast.

Wow, you're sacrificing a Maverick....you might be in the wrong place.....We deal mostly with 70-77 Mavericks, and 71-77 Comets...

He isn't neccessarily "sacrificing a Maverick"...He may be simply transferring that miniscule powerplant to the older car, so he can drop a big block into the maverick with a stronger transmission backing it up.

What part of Orange County? I am from there.

And pics, once you get the 10 posts or whatever it takes to get permission to post them.
