I was given a 1973 351c 2v. is it worth trying to rebuild and stuff in my 70 mav or would it be easier to go with a 351w? I'm not one for going the easy route, as long as it's worth it in the end. I'm assuming the shock towers will have to be cut down. other than that it seems to be an easy swap. I already have a 302 with c4 behind it. I'm getting conflicting reasons to go either way. please give me some pros and cons. the firs pro has to be that the motor was given to me, carb to pan, fan to flex plate. I have heard that this is a great motor, what do you think?

If you go with the Cleveland, you won;t have to buy heads to make the same HP you do with a Windsor. THAT is the difference. Even with the 2 bbl heads, 400 HP is only a matter of cam, intake and carb. You won't do that with an unported or aftermarket head on a Windsor.
Huh? 400 hp is stupid simple with a good set of aftermarket heads on a Windsor. But the Cleveland will fit easier due to the exhaust ports being at a downward angle.
400 hp Really... It's that easy? Cam,intake and carb? That's awsome. Any cam specs, carb size you guys could give me to reach that number? No work to heads. Seems like the 2v heads are better for my situation to fit between towers. I have a holly 630cfm...would that work or is it too small?
Sorry I made a typo. What I meant was it wasn't possible with an unported stock head or going to an aftermarket head on a Windsor.
In the book "Max Performance Ford V8's on a Budget", they show one done with the 2 bbl heads, cam was a .586/.585 lift, 232/236 duration 110 LCA, intake was an Edelbrock Performer dual plane topped with a 750 Holley. This motor made 405 hp @6000 rpms and 420 ft/lbs @5000. It can also be done with 4 bbl heads and a smaller cam. I would though, just to make life easier, cut the shock tower tops back regardless of the fact that it'll fit without doing it. Accessing the header bolts and spark plugs in shock tower cars can be a bitch, I learned this early on with a big block Stang and it was the first thing I did with my Comet after pulling the engine.
The Cleveland 2V and the 4V heads are the exact same physical size as far as fitting between your towers - no outward differences. As Barry said, the Cleveland exhaust ports angle downward so the exhaust fits better in the chassis than the Windsor. Believe me when I say this - - trim back your towers. Yes the engine fits without doing this but you will not be real happy changing plugs without the tower mod. Another thing is you will need is a set of Tubular Automotive swap headers. They are different for 2V or 4V so you have to make a decission on the heads before buying the headers. I have tons of photos of my Cleveland swap if you are interested.
