302 roller short block. was trying to remove intake after breaking loose intake bolts slightly then applying PB blaster waiting 8 hrs and apply more but it was not enough the bolt broke on the timing cover side of the drivers side head (next to the distributor). bolt goes through intake then through corner of head i tried EZ out it broke tried drilling it and began to damage head. bolt sits quite low in head about 1/4" below surface.my drill bits wont eat through it someone replaced the intake bolts with high grade steel at some point. (maybe i could weld another bolt onto it?already hit it with a torch still stuck.) any suggestions?
pb blaster before not during drilling.il go out there tomorrow and it will probably be saturated enough to hit it with a bit of propane again.
Sorry,a propane torch is useless for that application. You need a oxy-acetylene setup, with a fine tip so you can get the flame down into the head and heat the broken bolt. If you can't get the torch set ,you can get a left hand drill bit from "Mac" or "Snap on" that is very hard and will drill out even a broken easy-out! I cut a small guide out of a piece of copper tubing that will go in the hole and keep your drill bit centered. The "PB blaster" is great stuff, and with these other 2 items and perseverance, you'll get your broken bolt out,and not screw up your threads!
