I put a new starter in. and now my car starts right up agian. I moved the ground wire from the battery that was connected to the relayto the bolt on the alternator. In doing so I lossened the belt. So I moved the alternator back to where i thought it was originally.
I'm getting scraping fan metalic noises now.I thought I tightened it to far. so Now i lossened it off.
I don't know either to tighten or lossen now.
Can someone tell me how to fix my problem?

What are you talking about?? The starter or fan or alternator? The battery ground goes to the engine block.

I bolted the neg battery wire to the braket bolt on the alternator. Is there another place to bolt it? I have a 250.

In doing so, I beleave I messed up the tention on the alternator belt and it is making noises.

There is a bolt hole low on the passenger side toward the front of the block. That is where the ground cable goes.:)

It sounds like the alternator fan is rubbing on the battery ground cable, remove it and put it in the correct place as don said.

    Well, I found the problem
The parts guy who sold me the new starter gave me the wrong starter.
So now the right starter is in and it works great.
