I was wondering what would my gas mileage roughly with a weber 2bbl on top of a stock 6 cylinder? Jason
Best way is to do the following Right down the mileage before you fill up at the gas station. Fill it completely to the top until you cannot fit anymore gas into the car. Drive the car normally - no hot rodding, or excessive acceleration. When it gets PAST the empty marker then you'll know within 30 or so miles of completly bone dry. Take before and after mileage and figure out how many miles you traveled. Once you've figured out the number do the following ie (350m divide by 13 (think thats the standard amount the tank can hold) which will be 27 miles per gallon. My maverick 69.5 at a full tank will get me 1 solid week from pay day to pay day (thursday-thursday) of driving for a total for 250-275 miles. (21mpg) but that is will a few hot rodding, races, burn outs, and donuts involved
starting mileage with a full tank(on fillup) minus mileage at the next fill up, divide by how many gallons it took to fill it up on that fill up. ie: 23557-23757=200, 200 divided by say, 10 gallons would equal 20 mpg
When I calculate mileage I write down the miles, gas to fill the tank for at least six months. subtract the beginning miles from the ending miles and then add up all the gas I used. Divide the miles travelled for the entire time by the fuel used the entire time and the answer is your mileage. My 73 gets 21 mpg when computed that way over an entire year.
he is not asking how to calculate it, but what it might be before he tries it. I was getting 20-22 on a 302 stock but with 4 bbl intake and 600 cfm edelbrock carb. I would guess you would be around that range as well. Plus or minus. Gas mileage is greatly affected by the shoes you wear. Heavy shoes=lower gas mileage on a direct proportion.
that carburetor doesn't fit under the stock hood with the 2 barrel adapter plate if it's the 250 straight six. you wont see any change over the 1 barrel carter yf in terms of power or fuel economy. If you do a direct mount (skip the adapter plate and mount directly to the intake) you'll gain some ponies and lose maybe 1-2 mpg if you keep your foot out of it, as it's a secondaary doesnt come into play until about 3/4 throttle.
