Just watched Mecum Auction and the "Fast Eddie" 1970 Maverick with the Boss 9 rolled across the stage. I was impressed! :yup: It was bid up real quick to $205,000.00 but apparently the reserve wasn't met. I thought that was pretty awesome! (y)

I watched this car go across the block in person. It was pretty rough, but has a ton of history. It sounded pretty good when they fired it up.

The paint was about the only thing that looked good on the car other than it being a Maverick. They showed a close up of the engine and the carbs, the hoses, the valve covers, and the intake manifold all looked like sh*t. The wiring was pretty scary too. They couldn't even keep it running...........when they were able to get it started. You think with the car's history and the notoriety it was going to be getting with this auction; they would of done a better job on their prep work.

It still has shock towers, but not THE shock towers. What did they do to them to fit that beast of a motor in there?

This car was a dollar car in white.Ed Schartman and John Ciacchi took the car to Ed's father's junk yard and built the car. Ford had H&M send Ed a Boss429 built for Prostock racing. He ran the car as a Maverick and as a comet, then back to a Maverick just changing the taillights and hood. Eddie became known as "The Match Race King" with a win record of better than 93%.Headman Headers was one of many sponsors.Ed was one of very few to run the Boss429 motor in drag racing and win with them. The car has been highlighted at Ford Nationals at Carlisle in Pa in 2005 and again in 2009. When Fast Eddie was reunited with his former car Ed was very impressed with the restoration and originality. This is the best known Boss429 race car,and completely documented .This is a chance to own Ford Racing History. I'm looking for offers of cars and cash. I also have a 24' enclosed trailer that is available. Anyone interested can call me at 607-264-8032 or email me at bossman6798@aol.com

That's interesting. I've got pics of the Fast Eddie Maverick and Comet. I never knew it was the same car. :)
