Sorry if I missed a post on this. Tried searching but was unsuccessful. Would like to know if you can swap the early ('69 1/2 to '72) bumpers on to a '77 Maverick, and what would be involved. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. John B
Yep, be done, not too difficult, helps to have some tools a welder and some knowledge. Toughest part is finding all the needed parts.
Or you could do the bumper tuck. No cost. Just a little time and some fabricating skills. I did mine in about 3 hrs for the front and 2 hrs for the rear. Just another option.
Yup the hardest part is actually finding the parts....a welder is nice but not absolutely necessary. Also A muffler shop can weld the rear brackets in for you, or you can make a set that will "bolt in" and no welding will be required for the project I did the swap in a day around 4 years ago...wasn't difficult at all for an 18 year old kid(at the time).
I have all of the necessary parts, but I was under the impression that the swap was more complicated for a '74 to '77 then for a '73. I read the thread that qicvick posted but I'm unclear as to what holes need filling. Can anyone supp;y a few more details? Thanks. John B
I've never seen that before, it looks amazing on your mav... That's what I was thinking of doing when I first got my comet. If there aren't any threads on how to do the tuck already, do you think you could explain it a bit for me? Thanks a lot, and if it's been too long don't worry about it.
73's already have the rear bumpers done, so just the front needs done. 74 and up need to have both bumpers done. I cut holes in my front frame for the big nuts that the brackets mount to and welded them solid, left the old holes there.
