I bought my Maverick 24 August 1971. It was one of the first 50 sold with a 302. It had clutch linkage that I have never found in any Ford parts book so I suspect it was made by a job shop of some type. It now has a Boss 302 block (bought for $50 in 1972) with Windsor heads with a Crane super port job. It has a Crane F 260 flat tappet cam. With the 12:9 Manley pistons it hasn't seen the street since Sunoco quit making 260. I plan on a mild 302 and go back to the street. Widow sticker was $2741(those were the days) Looking forward to seeing what the other people that love this car as much as I do do with theirs
from Northeast Pennsylvania And I've only owned my 70 since 1989 and I thought that was a long time Looking forward to seeing more pictures of your car - you're gonna love it here :bananaman
yes those were the days. Sunoco 260. Makes my eyes water remembering that smell. 120 octane from the pump.
Welcome ! Nice car and story. I have owned mine since 1983...And in 1971 I was a first grader so I could`nt afford a Maverick yet.
Cool story! I've had several Mavs and a Comet since 1987, and I was only 1 in '71 and Mom thought it was too much toy for me...
