I discovered this forum a couple weeks ago and been following off and on since. Understanding the bulk of you all are 2 door-centric (wish Aunt Crystal bought 2 doors in 1971-but that's another story) still looking for opinions on the following:
    1971 - 4D Comet, basic rig.
    3 speed auto.
    Roll up by hand windows.
AC is open the vent and drive a little faster.
    Power steering.
Need leg-power to brake er (understand why so many posts of disc brake conversions).
Runs, really pretty well. Emphasis on RUN, not happy idling. (Know of any good carb guys in Oregon?). Transmission seems to be doing everything it shoud do. Maybe needs some U-joint attention and front end is a bit clunky.
30,000 miles. Actually, roughly 30,500. Aunt Crystal didn't drive much.
Mostly garaged during 30 or so years, then sitting covered (or not) in my dad's driveway.
Very little rust and a few dents and bruises here and there.
All in all not a bad little-project car for someone with the garage space and a little time to clean her up (IMHO), improve the example as time and money is available.
Being realistic, I don't know if she is a $500 car. Maybe $1500. Maybe something else. Dad could use whatever I can raise in turning her over to a good home.
Dad took ownership 10 years ago when Crystal passed. Does that make her a two ower car, or one, in that she stayed in the family? You decide.
I'll see now if I can upload some pictures.
That seems to have gone pretty well, but I have mess-load of others, including interior, etc.
So, anyhow, from what you see, what 'cha think?
    thanks,
    Star Gazer

    I'd say $1500 to $2500 range.

If the interior is like the outside, I was thinking $2K-$2.5K. I'm assuming this is a 6 cylinder car. :)

    you're funny :dancing:

interior pics would help for sure. maybe pop the hood and snap a few...

I would agree with craig though, 1500-2000. maybe more maybe less :yup:

just gotta find that one right buyer.

I just posted some interior pictures in the Gallery under "star gazer".
It is 6 cylinder, maybe 2bbl, not sure.
If engine bay shots help, can do that too, in a couple of days. I'm not really good at huge follow ups. Work tends to get in the way of fun.
There is a 2" x 2" tear in the headliner, right rear section above one's head. Not sure how that got there, Crystal can't be asked.
Like I hinted, I'm trolling for a basic value. Would like to begin talking terms of something based on something. For now, I'm pretty much in the dark. Agreed, it takes the right person to 'see' value. Thanks to all who have an opinion.

Wow a 4 door and a Comet, thats a parts car for sure. :rofl2: :bananaman

Just kidding. Thats a nice car. And its nice to see somebody being realistic about their low mileage mav/Comet and not come in hear thinking they have some big money car.

I think if you post it up and wait for the right buyer you could get $2500-3000 for it. It will make somebody a real nice weekend cruiser and get alot of attention at the cruise ins.

WOW! that is clean brother! sadly you probably wont get what it's worth...there is a real nice 4 door (MAv) in Ft. Wayne that hasn't gone anywhere in 2 months. I know that isn't want you want to hear but I am sure if you shoot a price out here on the forum that you would have a pretty good shot of selling...

    good luck

    Hey, I appreciate the comments.
The intent was to clear her up, basically make a functional ride for cruize in's etc, offer a small project rig for some lucky soul. If she does sit for a few months awaiting the Right Home, I may be forced to tinker, improve the example.
(Dang, what am I saying? Is this how it starts?)

That is a clean looking car. I would hang onto it, as 4 doors will continue to go up in value, as time goes by. Specially the small bumper cars. 4 doors can be real head turners when done right.

Eric: Your rig looks fantastic. Very good work.
    With the 5.0 I'm a guessing you're not running 4W Drum brakes.
Flash back in time: Fellow student in high school dropped a 300 ci six in his Mustang, did a little tuning work and proceeded to stun the Friday night cruizers on Broadway. Methinks the 300 six had more torque off the line than the 289.
(He pissed a lot of folks off on the light to light runs.)

MaverickLVR: Astronomy. Met some really mellow folks at a Star Party about a decade ago. Telescopes and eyepieces are money drains, too. Link to Oregonstarparty.org or some such for a hint of the Party.
Also, someone suggested some pics of the engine bay. Just uploaded to Gallery "star gazer" the pictures of interior engine bay and trunk. Someone suggested that would be good. Not sure why, but there they are.
    talk soon,
    star etc.
