I've been looking at a car for about 2 weeks, Talked to the guys agree'd on a price, and Asked him How I could send him a deposit. If it was pay pal I would do it right that minute. He said he couldn't do Paypal, But he would save it for me and look into how to wire the money. 2 days go by and no word I email him to ask if he had figured out how he wants me to send the money and he tell me he sold the car the day before. WTF.

At what point did a mans word become worthless!

Works the other way too. You hold something for a guy that doesn't show up. Or you ship a guy some cheap parts when he promises to send a check, get delivery confirmation, and "they never showed up". I'd much rather operate on trust but its hard to tell who's honest and who isn't.

You're probably lucky you didn't give a deposit or you might never have gotten it back.

Truth and commitment lost some value somewhere a long the way.

I've had this happen so many times in the last few months, I've lost count. I was starting to loose faith in humanity in general, but I met 3 different unassociated individuals that changed my mind. I have had the unfortunate responsibility of liquidating my dad's estate and only 3 people out of approximately 50 were good for their word or morals. People for the most part $UcK!

I got my car long distance. I was sweating losing my "deposit". Luckily, everything worked out. But it is just sad that I had to worry about it.
