I'm wondering what a realistic drop in ride height would be. I drive the car every day in a metropolitan area. I race the car a lot as well so need a low stance. I have a deep sump oil pan and long tube headers.

I cut one coil in the front and left the rear where it was. :tiphat:

you need an air ride suspension. just kidding. thanks for joining me and my family for my b-day.
getting the coil overs for the front end will allow you to adjust the front end till you find what works best for you. 3" is considered by lots of car builders to be the lowest ground clearance that you can get away with. thats from the lowest part of your car which is the headers.

I cut one coil and still have the original weak rear leafs. Never scraped a header and drove the car as my daily driver. Front tires are pretty low, too ... 215/60/15s. Always took it easy around speed bumps.

The stance is shown below ... the green car.

I am actually gonna go get some blocks for the rear today and posibly cut the 6 cyl springs up front this weekend. In the rear I am gonna have some buddies sit on the trunk till its as low as I like and measure the drop then do the same for the front. I am more interested in how the tire/fenderwell opening looks.

FWIW...I have the 4-leaf heavy duty JC Whitney leaf springs on stock shackles, and used a 1" drop block.

Front is pretty Frankensteined, and couldn't be replicated if you tried. If interested, you can check it out on my website for details. http://scooper77515.fordmaverick.net/july2005.htm

Here is how high the springs sat before I cut them down...And those are my REAR tires on the front. Yes, there is a jack under there, but look closely, the yellow thing is the jack's pad, and it is lowered!!!

I used 67 Mustang bigblock springs and had the same problem. Mine is also piecemealed together and would be difficult to replicate. For the record tho, a 1" block in the rear, 2 3/4 coils removed from the above mentioned springs, StreetorTrack UCA's with a 1" UCA pivot drop. It's 25.5" off the floor at the top edge of the arch in the rear wheel well and 24.75" at the top of the arch in the front. The lowest point on the car is the headers (6901 hookers) at 4". I'm with Bryant on the min of 3", some speed bumps here can be 3-4" high. Some local ordinances here also state a minimum ground clearance of 4-6"

I drug my headers all the time with 205/60r15 tires. Swapped them out for 215/60 and never hit anything again. Newest tires are 225/60

I ordered the coilover conversion which will mount to the UCA so I'll see how high it sits then. I have a lot of bump to worry about as well so we'll see how it all goes.
