I was lucky (so far anyway) and didn't have to remove the turn signal cam from the Stallion. However, I do have to replace the cam on the yellow mav since sometimes the signal doesn't automatically turn off after I've made a turn (just happened to have the cam already cause it was intended for the yellow car). Anyway, I tried to remove the "newer style" cam on the Stallion but broke a couple small screw drivers trying to get that darn retaining clip off. The post it's on even flairs out on the end, can't imagine it coming off without breaking, and the clip appears to be pretty thick and strong. What have you guys used to remove that clip?

Found a photo online, arrows points to that troublesome clip...

Here is a better pic. It looks like you need to collapse the top of the rivet a bit enough to force the clip out. Maybe cut a slit on one side will help it cave in. Might have to use an E-clip to put it back together.

That's a great close up pic, thanks. Yeah, I think you're right about using a different clip, just wondering what others have used...

It is made of a brittle tin metal and it just pry's up and breaks away leaving the post untouched. The new cam kit comes with a new one so you don't need to save the old one. I use a needle nose and a small screw driver to pry on it and get it to break.

I did a tech write-up last year for Shorthorns on installing the cam kit. Check issue Sept/Oct 2010.

The cam I purchased did not have a new retainer clip, so I'll have to go shopping for a replacement...

I have squeezed the clip with a pair of vise grips and it will break in half very easily! Just be careful not to damage the post.:)
