do you have any idea if the export brace will clear a stock 5.0l EFI intake manifold?

You need to make some subframe connectors!!!

Do those bars have the same dimensions as the factory supports? Do they take up the same general area? Does that make any sense?

On the mock up, there seems to be more room at the brake cyl. Able to pull the valve covers very easy.

No, I don't, know for sure. It seems to me that it should. Anyone in my area with a 5.0 EFI, Mav/Comet, that wants to be a test fit?

I must admit, I am somewhat dissapointed that they do not look like the originals.

I am sure that you can find original pieces from several guys here if you are doing an accurate resto.

These pieces being developed are with the intent that they actually do something to help improve the handling of the car. :thumbs2:

There is another alternative that is more original-looking ...

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=25914&highlight=export+brace

I like this quite a bit, and may make one myself, being that the theme in my build is to look "factory ... yet, better".

I like the idea of adding the belly bar, because it is pretty far out of sight, and the other brace in front of the motor, being that would be something that has some Ford lineage ... having been offered on Shelby Mustangs. If I do they would be a subtle color, so as to not really stand out as much.

    Cost Faqctors

The cost of having a die made that would make a one piece stamping, like the original Ford export brace, is just too high.

Would need a high tonnage press, to do that.

    Up date

    H.D. Belly bar update,

The belly bars are back from the powder coat shop. Hardware is not back from the zinc plate shop. Bolts have not been delivered yet. Best guess this road race type belly bar should be ready to ship, June 30. Price to be set when all costs come in.

    Export brace update,
The bending die is complete, the cad drawings are done and a prototype will be plasma cut on Monday, trial fitment Tuesday. I am pushing hard to have this ready for the ROUNDUP. :rofl2: Yeah, right! Now that would truly be a best case.

Thanks to everyone that has supported my efforts.

    Bob
