there lots of different heads for a 302. alot are offered by ford and alot are aftermarket heads.
your dart heads are aftermarket. dart is the company that made them. there are several different offerings from dart for a 302.

Since they're all 302 heads they all inter swap onto the 302/5.0L blocks.

There were a bunch of OEM castings from the late 60s up to the 2000s.

Dart is an aftermarket company, that makes blocks, heads and other mostly race stuff.

    E7 heads are from 87
GT40 heads first appeared on the mustang cobra I believe, later on in 96 they started appearing on the explorer and the mercury counterpart.

about any aftermarket head other than the procomp stuff is far better than the factory stuff. as far as factory stuff goes, gt40 heads and early 351w heads are the best imo, e7 heads are pretty good for a street car. I lot of people like the 289 heads but I have never seen a set that was impressive other than ones highly ported with big valves and so on. The majority of the 70's and early 80's heads were smoggers that didn't make power

I looked at Darts before I bought my Edelbrocks but, at that time, they came with 62 cc chambers and I didn't want to lower the compression anymore than it already was.

Dart is a very good quality head. Lots of professional 's use their stuff. They may not flow as well as some of the others out now but quality is as good as it gets and for a 302 there more than enough.

The original GT40 heads were race only 1960's parts. The current batches first appeared in marine applications in 1988-1989, then used on the Lightning pickups, then on the 93-95 Cobra Mustangs, after that they were used in the Explorer/Mountaineer line until 2001. In all there were about 6 different castings in this line.

I never knew that, I thought they just used existing 289/427 heads.

Yeah I wish I could go back in time to see that, both of my parents were under 10 by the time the 60's ended. So that should give you a clue of how far way I am from that generation

I was too. I was only eleven when the 60's were done. Do some reading, mainly Pat Ganahl's book "Ford Performance" and
"Ford Total Performance" by Alex Gabbard. Good Stuff. :thumbs2: I was lucky enough to have had a 427 back in the 80's and got some hands on experience with that beast. :Handshake That's where I got the yearning for Multiple carbs :thumbs2:
