Mike and Olin came over and gave me a hand mounting the scoop on my flat hood...thanks Mike (for Hood) later Effie and I put the headlights and grille back in... the car is ready, just have to load up in the morning... ...Thanks Effie, mike and Olin...:Handshake
It is a chebby motor maybe they should have turned it around to match the ones that all the Camaros and Firebirds have
Aw ... c'mon .... why did you sand off all the overspray and handprints? Lookin' forward to seeing you two in Dearborn.
i'm curious, Did the Grabber hood not fit with the Chevy motor in there? Or did the hood fly off because it wanted no part in being on a half breed creation. Maybe a Comet GT scoop would work. Being on a half breed is still better than being on a Comet and Im sure the scoop would be much happier.
Wow guys, no love for the scoop? It isn't what I would run by a LONG shot, but even if he wants to mount a mail box to the hood, who cares, just nod politely as you vomit in your mouth a little. Now joking aside, it looks like it was installed so a different air cleaner would fit without hitting the hood, not for airflow.
I think it looks fine. It was properly mounted and functions as intended. Unique is what comes to mind....
Frank, Chebby motor or not I like the scoop. Only question I have is are you going to fiberglass or something to feather the edges in and cover the rivets? I would have thought that you should have cut the hole in the shape of the scoop so that the scoop would have mounted through the hood from the underside and the lip around the scoop would be under the hood and the scoop coming through the hole and then you could have riveted it in and counter sunk the rivets and a little bondo would have covered the rivets right up... Did that make sense??? As much as I don't like chebby motors in a ford car I just can help but to like Good Ole Patches just something about all the attention to detail on the interior and the drive train and the unfinished look of the exterior just screams Hat Rod/Muscle Car.
I don't know what Frank used on his, but when I cut my hood, I used a jigsaw with a metal-cutting blade and was impressed by how nice it cut. I used masking tape on the base so that it wouldn't scratch the paint, drilled a hole for the blade to start in, and just took my time ... good results.
there was no thought to this...it's only going to be on for 2 weeks. when i get back home it's coming off, EFI going on...
