Ive never heard of such a thing. Im going to look at one for my brother to maybe buy. Could this car really have a bad headgasket? Or are these heads prone to actually crack?
any engine can blow a head gasket, and heads do crack, gaskets swrink with age and then blow, get a head really hot, and yeah it cracks.
Done lots of inline 6 head gaskets over the years. A lot of them leaking externally. Good news is they are real easy to do. Bit heavy though. Dont miss those days.
Ya that guy. I was pretty sure he would go cheaper just didnt want to make the offer until I saw it. Its well worth the money, even at 800. I saw it but my mom wants me to find something for my brother and I just done have the time to get this one on the road. And I knew it was Possible for a head gasket to blow, I was just referring to that i have never heard of or experienced a Ford straight six blow one. Was kind of asking if this is really common or rare for this engine to blow the head gasket.
All I've worked with are these sixes since I've started fooling around with the Mavs. If it's the stock steel shim gasket they generally have an external leak if any leak at all, I've noticed. I've had one cracked head from a doner motor and the motor in my 2 door was warped due to last owner running it too hot with a seized thermostat . I would say the heads warped or cracked if anything. They have strong bottom ends but I've had bad luck with past owners wrecking the heads
It's good to have a second set of hands to pick up the head and another lining it up, they aren't light haha
