A slightly different question..... What Font did Ford use for the numbers? I wanted to make a retro faceplate design for the auto-loc gauges.

    Jamie,

I'll be very interested to see your progress. I just figured out that a small tach I have had stashed away for years here is probably a good size to do this mod myself. :thumbs2:

The guys working on my tach recieved my cluster last week. Will keep you posted on progress. We talked about saving all the idiot lights and trying to keep the fuel gauge in. Also going with 8000 rpm.

Haven't done a lot with it recently. The main problem is the fuel gauge is in the way. I'm using one from a fox body Mustang, it allows you to move the gauge higher up so you have more room under it. Still, there is not enough room to have the guts of the tach actually inside the cluster. That just gives you enough room to run a shaft through the cluster and have it come out centered on the face plate. The tach would have to be mounted on the back side of the cluster. I haven't determined if there is enough room back there to do that yet, without it hitting the brake pedal support that runs up to the lip near the bottom of the windsheild. You would need to figure out how to attach an extra long shaft to the tach as well, to reach from the back side of the gauge cluster to the front side.

The fuel guage is the whole problem. They said if I moved the fuel guage with my other guages it would be a piece of cake.

Sorry for the lateness and bringing this thread back...but are you sayin if I get a individual fuel gauge, say like an aftermarket 3 pod set (volts, fuel, oil) that the mustang tach unit can be made to fit?

I've thought of doing something like this if I could find someone to make me a new front panel
