So ive heard the term before but it seems to be pretty common with the mavericks. As in ford maverick grabber for sale. What the hell does it mean?

it was an apearance options package. different years had different things in the package. it involved graffics some times a hood and a spoiler. there is no performance advantage to a grabber.

Ah I see. So the "grabber" was just another edition like the "sprint"? If someone were to throw the spoiler/hood/etc on a regular or sprint model it wouldnt be a true grabber?

No, it would not be a true one.

The way to tell a true Grabber is through the vin #. First letter of the vin is the year and the third and fourth on a 2 dr, is either 91 or the Grabber is 93. Except for the 1970 Grabbers. :)

Make sure you look at the usual spots for rust.....trunk, quarters, floor pans. I bought a maverick from a guy in clarkston about 6 months ago. Initially it looked great but when i got it home i found a bunch of really serious issues. My advice to spend plenty of time going through everything, maybe even put together a list o f things you want to look at before going. It seems that us guys with the "maverick fever" get there to look at the car and everything rational goes out the window :dancing:

the biggest problem that is hidden when you buy a maverick has got to be the cowel being rusted out. it easy to check before you buy it. take a gallon of water or a hose and poor water down the vents by the windshield wipers. it all should drain out of the bottom of the fenders. check the carpets under the dash to see if they get wet. if they do the it has a rusty cowel. this will usually mean that the floors are rusty from having water sit on them. i would definitly reduce the amount offered for a car with leaking cowels.
