"i'm done" will never come across my keyboard again.i've said it twice i think.after it was wetsanded and buffed out again i took it to my friend and he told me he has a 390 posi he'd love to sell me.all i wanted was to show him how much better it looked after a proper wetsand and buff job,and that i was finally able to put my name plates on .so it looks like i go from a 1 scratch patch to a posi and most of all a noticibly sharper gear.i know there was a couple of us who have been talking about the english suv style nameplates has anyone else done it yet?I frigg'n love it.i think i'm going to put the F O R D on the back spoiler as well.any input?

I know we were able to order a lot of these emblems from our local Ford dealers back in early 2010 at the time that Tody, from Germany, gave me the part number. At the time it appeared that our orders were sending red flags up at Ford because they were becoming aware that a Europeon part was being sold in North America. I didn't see the big problem but I wonder if you can still get them ordered over the counter

i've been sitting on mine for about 3yrs waiting for the day i was finally into paint.i got them from a ford dealership in whales.i just started doing searches for ford dealerships overseas.the guy that finally responded to me was very helpful.he wound up buying them himself, and then i reimbursed him via paypal.it cost half as much to get them over here that way as opposed to my buying the part from ford and having it shipped overseas.got to know the guy by doing the transaction.real cool dude.we still talk.i sent him some pics of the car from the git go so he knew i wasnt just jerking him around.i just finished emailing him pics with the emblems on.their on a different time schedule so i cant wait to hear what hes got to say about it.he told me that there were quite a few of his coworkers that didnt even know about there being a maverick stateside back in the 70s.i also picked up a pair of these as well.i think i'm going to put them on the metal part of the inside of the door

    Paint looks great!

Your car has a definite 70s vibe to it.

That gear has me a bit mystified.... are you sure it is for an 8 inch? I think 3.90s are common for a 9 inch. If the pinion hangs out over the bottom two bolts, it is for the bigger rear. 3.80s are a common 8 inch ratio ... maybe that is what he has. Count the ring teeth and divide by the pinion teeth and there is your number.

A bigger gear like that will make the car a whole 'nuther animal ... I just went from 4.62s (way too much gear) to 3.55s (can't wait to try them out... ought to be perfect). I got the huge gear in a swap for some old wheels, and thought "well, that would be big, stupid fun". They were,... but 3.55s were the original plan, and 5 mpg and cruising slow got really old.

DONE!?! ... only when you sell the car! I've never been done ... sold a few right after they started getting "really cool", though. Wish I had several of them back again.

Put name plate on a few days ago. Only took about 4 days to get from Detroit. Just Ordered it from the parts counter $31.00 each. I really like how they look. Thanks for the help.

    nameplates

i wish your pic would come thru larger.when you transfered $'s to £'s i paid $25 for mine, however with postage we came out about the same.nameplate looks good down there as well.i always wondered if it was a year thing, model thing or by customer request where they put the nameplates on the cars.i like it behind the wing window personally.i'm thinking about spelling the word "maverick" with those same style letters i have on the nose of my hood, across my trunk spoiler"see first post of thread".just thinking about it for now.it might be "nameplate overkill" but i love me some nameplates.i've got a set of these i'm still trying to figure out where to put them.it will be on the interior i'm not THAT IN LOVE WITH DEM NAMEPLATES

I'll try and put a better Pic up tomorrow. Thanks for the positive feed back, actually on the passenger side it covers the holes from the old emblem and the driverside was missing it. As far as placement Ford moved them from the fender to the sail panel for some reason. They probably saw them rusting out at the fender and moved them, or maybe not.
