Any way to whiten and clean up the original windshield washer reservoir?? How about reproduction?? I think I have seen a picture of a Torino with the same reservoir ... thanks ..
I know a 69 torino uses the same resevoir. I don't know of any repops on those. NOS ones run over $100. I don't know how to clean one. Maybe some type of plastic polish?
Actually I have done all of the above ... Don't think it will ever get back to original but it looks alot better ... Thanks ... I have seen NOS lids for these on the net - but how the heck do you get the original lid off - would make it much easier to clean. It seems to be glued on ... Dan
I pried the black lid off mine and ran everything through the dishwasher. It came out clean, but I'd like to whiten it and get rid of some of the faded yellow tinge. What's with that ocy-clean. Is that the one that's always on infomericals? Is it any good? Thanks.
I've used the oxy-clean around the house and it does work. I might try it on the plastic and see what it does. By the way, if you're doing your carpets in the Mav, mix some with the cleaner. It helps get out the stains and dirt better. Just make sure you do not use a closed container after you mix it. It gives off oxygen and wil blow up a closed bottle.
Virginia Mustang has new washer bottles for 69/70 Mustangs that are factory Ford replacements. They are the only vendors that have any of these left. Yes, they are narrower than the Maverick bottle, but the appearance is the same(clear plastic with black lid) & two of the three mounting screws line up with the existing holes. Plus the washer motor harness will reach & plug in, unlike other replacements. They are $26.95. Phone # is 540-896-2695. It worked great on my car & looks completely factory. They were still available from Ford up until a couple of years ago. Hope this helps.
