Too bad Amazon doesn't take trades. I've got a sweet $500 Traxxas Brushless E-Maxx that I never play with that is basically new....not to even mention the all the other RC vehicles I have that is never used.

Is this a 6 cylinder or 8? iF YOU REPLACED THE POINTS ARE THE GAPPED RIGHT. iF YOU REBUILT THE CARB , IS THE ACCELERATOR PUMP ROD IN IT'S CORRECT LINE HOLE? IS THE CARB SITTING ON THE CORRECT BASE PLATE GASKET? sOME CAME WITH A METAL PERFERATTED GASKET NOT PAPER. tHESE BURN OUT FAST AN MAKE THE CAR RUN HOTTER THEN NORMAL. jUST TEXT ME BACK OR EMAIL ME i HAVE ALL FACTORY SHOP MANUALS i CAN GIVE YOU INFO FROM. sCHROENSR.

SCHROENSR: It's the 302 V8. Points are set to the right gap but I haven't set the dwell. Which hole is the accelerator pump rod supposed to go in? I think mine is currently in the bottom hole. I'm not sure about what base plate gasket was used when the carb was rebuilt (was performed by the guy who owned it before me).

Still curious about which hole the accelerator pump rod is supposed to go in and if anyone else has any ideas. Thanks!

Still seeing this problem. Had some issues with my plug wires, but got that fixed. Thought all was good but noticed this problem the last 2 days when coming to and leaving from work (35 mile trip) where the motor and everything has had a chance to get heated up. Everyone has mentioned the ignition coil possibly being bad, but can anyone think of anything else to check (looking into FREE troubleshooting) before I go drop any money at a store getting something that might not even fix the problem? Trying to keep the wife sane while I work on my project....I'm sure some of you know what I mean. Thanks!

If your coil is on the intake move it to the left front of the engine. There should be a threaded hole in the block. This will let some air flow to the coil to keep it cooler.

If the coil isn't failing, would it getting hot still cause it to act so poorly? Yes, it is located on the intake manifold.

Heat will cause the coil to break down. The top of the engine could be the hottest spot. Especially if your engine is running hot. Moving the coil down on the engine block where there is more air flowing through the radiator could help. How hot is your engine running.

I currently don't have a temp gauge installed but I can find out how hot. What is the normal operating temp range I should be looking for?

I like to run a 180 degree thermostat in mine. You really need a temperature guage.
Install a manual one under the dash if possible where you can read it. Remember your engine is close to the hood. It could be the hottest spot on your engine. I know I will get some some one on here that will dispute this but if you can get some temp sticks or strips and put them on your engine you will see. I moved my coil for this reason.

I've got some digital temp gauges that I can use that I run on my RC stuff. They can go upwards of 200 degrees and are easy to mount. I'll mount them up and drive home tonight and see what the read when I get there. I'm going to mount one to my coil and the other to the manifold to get temps on both.

Ok, here's a hypothetical question. What would happen if my water pump wasn't working properly and my motor was getting hot (I'm not sure if the temp warning light works). Could the heat on the intake manifold cause A/F mix to be funny or cause the fuel to "boil" and not be efficient? Crazy idea? Just curious....
