Warmed the car up, pressure right about 45 once warm. Changed oil and filter and now pressure is zero. Any ideas what could have happened in 10 minutes?

Air bubble to the pressure sensor maybe? try letting it idle a bit longer and see what happens. or loosen the oil sensor until it leaks and retighten it.

how long did you let it run after the change, it takes a few seconds for the filter to fill and pressure to show. and not trying to be a wisea$$, but a friend of mine had the same problem, the drain plug was still on the bench after he put the new oil in.

did ou fill the filter with oil before installation? if not then it could take a little time to get the air out of all the passages.

Could the bypass valve have gotten damaged somehow? Broken or loose wire to the sender?

    ON THE NOSIE!

Removed the new filter (STP S8A - 200 straight 6) and dry as a bone! Before taking it off I had let it run for about 20 seconds with the oil light on and gauges showing 0. In the past oil changes, my pressure gauge would register within 5 seconds. I let it sit for another 10 minutes to allow all oil to get to the pan and started it up letting it idle for about 30 seconds and still nothing. After re-installing the old filter and getting good pressure my suspicions were confirmed.

Now my question is how long can an engine run without oil pressure before causing damage? I may have a serious bone to pick with STP.

So long as the oil is in the pan and gauge works its got to be a filter issue.

Did an LOF at work once and lost the oil to half the engine. Tore it all down and found a Jolly Rancher candy wrapper in the oil gallery. Must have been in the new filter. I always look in them since that day.

If the filter was dry (had no oil in it,or residue) The pump cavitated. If the pump were pumping oil on start up...The filter would not have been dry,new or not. I allways put fresh oil in new filters before installing them (unless the angle its mounted at would allow the oil to pour out upon installation) Is the engine fresh??? if not,the pump is tired or the pickup screen is plugged. Dont use cheap filters...Motorcraft/purolator filters are very good and reasonably priced. I dont like STP filters.

If the filter is bone dry, the filter is NOT the problem.

Did you put any oil in the filter to begin with?
