May have a chance at an 8" center section with 3.28 gears. My current diff is the 3.00 and I've been thinking 3.5ish would be an ideal ratio for my setup But this 3.28 diff is a pretty good deal. My question: Is this enough of a step up that I'd even notice? Should I even bother with it, or wait and get the 3.50 or 3.55 later?

Also considering a Powertrax Lock-right or a mini spool, but I don't know, that's probably a whole other conversation...

IMHO. It is too expensive to change gears limited slip. Change them once. Ebay has a couple of builders that have pumpkins ready to install, you pick your gears.

I see a big difference between a 3.00 and 3.25 with my 4-speed Falcon. With the 300 I had to ride the clutch too much to get rolling. A bigger cam likes bigger gears too

If it was free I would do it. 3.25's are like an ideal street gear. The lock right is fine with an auto. If you have a stick, there is so much slack in them things you car will lurch on you at low speeds back and forth. Its not fun.

I would go 3.55 or greater ... yields better readings on the fun meter (y)

I also saw the pumpkins on ebay. If I remember correctly they were actually a decent price too.

Well thanks for the advice everybody. I still think my ideal setup would be the Powertrax and 3.55 gears, so I'll wait until funds allow... Unless I can talk the guy down a bit more on price, then I can run the slightly better gear ratio and keep the car in service while I build my original center section.

If I do run across a 9" that fits, I will keep that in mind. (y)

hey got a question id like to throw out there since we're tlking about gears. if i go with a 351 small block, and a t5 manual, would a 4.10 be good or should i go with something else?
