I'm thinking about switching to a manual shift tranny in my 77. I've invested a small fortune on performance mods for the inline 6 and I think I'll have a lot more fun with a hand shaker as opposed to the little c4. My questions are whats the best manual trans to look for, and could anyone help me out with a list of the parts I'm gonna need make the change? The only parts I've got so far are a set of pedals complete with a 6 cyl zbar, and a floor shift steering column.
    Thanks.:tiphat:

T-5 is the most popular. Search here for "T5 swap". Or check FordSix website.

I love my t5 also. I went with an aftermarket pedal assembly with hydraulic master and slave.

I've actually got both, a 250 and a later model big bell 200. I'm still undecided as to which one to use for the build, but I'm leaning toward the 200. I appreciate the heads up on the zbar though. I have no idea which I6 the bar I've ordered fits, but I can't imagine that its to tough to find the right 6 cyl zbar what with all the v8 swaps going on. I sure theres lots of them laying around.

gmatthew76, here is what I just did on my 250 Mav: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=78899
If you have questions, please feel free to ask. If I were to do it again, there are some things I would do differently.
It is well worth the swap!

Thanks a bunch Ken. I just finished reading through your thread. Theres lots of good info there. I can't wait to get started. The wife and I are headed to the UK for a couple weeks of R and R, but as soon as we get back I'll start gathering all the parts I need for the swap. I'm sure I'll be hitting you up for advice once I begin the install.
    Regards :tiphat:

    Toploader located

I found a toploader out of a 68 mustang 302. It comes with a bell housing, shifter, and a money back guarantee. I hope it's still available when I get back from vacation. Speaking of vacation. If I can find any Mavericks or Comets while I'm over in the UK, I'll be sure and post a few pictures. I don't really expect to see any, but the last trip over the wife and I where driving down a country road in south Wales and where overtaken by the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard.:tiphat:
