Does anyone know of a direct replacement coil over shock for our cars that eliminates the stock front coils besides QA-1? Im still looking.
I found some Bilstien shocks that work with a coil over kit at Speedway Motors, that are very reasonable.:bananaman
Do they include some sort of adapter for the top of the coil over? I thought that you could not bolt those directly to the upper shock mount, it was not meant to act as the spring mounting point.
Youre right. I started thinking about the load on the top mount and its a no brainer. So I guess Ill be spending a Grand before Christmas.:deadhorse The QA-1 setup will alow some Creative shaveing of my shock towers.
One of the magazines just showed some that are coming out, I forget who it was, I'll see if I can find it. It wasn't QA1
I think someone posted these, but ouch! Direct bolt in drag stuff. http://www.cachassisworks.com/p-1089-bolt-on-coil-over-for-67-73-mustang-fords-q2.aspx
For $1600.00 more, might as well go to Rod & Custom, get entire front end kit #107 and everthing hub to hub and have rack & pinion too. Also have a streetable suspension, not just drag stuff. JMO
I want them so I can get rid of the front coil springs in order to do some creative shaving and re enforceing of my shock towers. I would also think it would be easier to change out the shocks and fine tune the front susspension they make differnt springs for different aplications. But if its too much trouble I might go with the rc IFS unit.
The QA-1 set up recomends drilling out the spot welds on the upper spring seat and removeing it. This set up spreads the stress load over a plate on top. Which gives me an Idea.
