Apparently Cardone is not remanufacturing brake boosters for resale anymore. They will rebuild yours for $78 (plus shipping, etc). Well while looking at Auto Parts Warehouse (never been there - let me know if they suck). They have listed a few "Direct fit" brake boosters from Tuff Stuff. Shipping is free and No Core Charge. *******Removed the info - see explanation below
Okay here is what I have found out. Tuff Stuff makes high performance stuff and is sold at Summit. Appears to be a reputable product. Auto Parts Warehouse is not reputable. They were trying to sell me a universal booster and told me that it was made the Maverick and would be a direct fit. Talked to Michael at Micheal's Hot Rod shop in Shelbyville (a local authorized dealer of Tuff Stuff) and he gave me the info on Tuff Stuff and what vehicles they fit. The Maverick is not one, but with a some fabrication, it would work.
See my answer in your other thread. There are several places where you can send your booster and they will rebuilt it. Look in Hemmings Magazine. I seem to recall a place called "Booster Dewey"????
Thanks for the tip Craig. Looked for people who remanufacture boosters. Looks like there is a remanufatured one in Atlanta and they are open on Saturdays. It is a Bendix. Will try to call in the AM to make sure they still have it. I can make the drive on Sat to pick it up.
Booster Dewey is a very good shop, they are in Portland, Oregon. I have had two different boosters done by them, no problems yet.
Thanks for the options. Cardone (in Philly) is closer to me, so I would probably get it back quicker than sending it to Portland. Plus it is only $78 as opposed to $150. I called Reman Incorporated today. He doesn't have a rebuilt one in stock, but thinks he has a core and could have one rebuilt by Friday for Sat pickup. He is suppose to call me back to let me know if he has a core to rebuild. Do any of the Atlanta guys have an opinion on this shop? He is on Ralph David Abernathy Blvd in downtown. If I make the trip to Atlanta, guess I will just have to spend some time at Summit drooling over stuff I can't buy.
