My neighbor is really getting into Mavericks now. We just finished his '73 Grabber and are trying to work the bugs out of it. Now he bought another one today. An old guy outside of town has been collecting cars for years, but he would NEVER allow anyone to get near them. Well I guess he finally decided to unload some of them. One of them was the 2 door Comrick my neighbor bought. Yes I said Comrick. It's a '76 Maverick with a Comet front end. The car's been sitting since the late '90's but is surprisingly solid. It was pouring down rain when we went to look at it and I was very surprised that it has no water leaks at all. Not even in the cowl. I really don't know how well optioned out it is, but I do know it has a low mileage 250 under the hood with air conditioning. We'll know more when we get it here so we can look it over better. For now we have to wait untill the monsoons end so we can get a rollback or trailer back there to haul it out. Interestingly enough, my neighbor has no plans to keep either of these Mavericks. Each one is supposed to go to his two grandsons. The one grandson is 13 and the other is 8 or 9. They both have a long way to go before either is old enough to drive and neither one is all that interested in cars yet, so we'll see if they still want the cars when they get older.
I'll try to get some pics once we get it home and when and if the rain ever stops. Hey Texas! You can have ALL of our rain. You need it more than we do. I can tell you this much about the car. The car is dark green with a light green bench seat interior. The front seat has the usual wear and tear on it, the lower dash and dash pad are cracked, but the rest of the interior looks pretty nice. One thing I did notice is the radio. It's a factory stock AM/FM Ford radio. I don't know if it works or even how well the car runs. The guy who sold it had it running about a year ago ( ) and now the car is out of gas. Could be dicey, but those 6 cylinders are hard to kill. We'll know more when it gets here. My neighbor likes it and that's all that matters.
Thanks Jean. Just pump out the oil in the pipeline and start the rain flowing. Been will hot and dry and now we are on fire. The heat did break yesterday. I hope it does not come back til next summer. Rick
