If you look at the other pictures of the car, it's just the regular cap, the design just looks funny in that picture.

Had the same cap on my 71, but I kept getting my fuel stolen so I replaced it with a locking one. Can't remember what I did with it.

I believe that is the same cap. It just looks funny in the first picture. I have the same one.

it is a slightly different design. Note the four "arrows" top, bottom and both sides breaking up the rings around the steers head.

    Same basic cap, different artwork.

Um, I thought the consensus was that the "arrows" were an optical illusion... I don't think anyone has seen a Maverick cap with arrows.

    I vote: Optical Illusion

I think the two caps pictured are different. ... Why ... I don't see how the bending of light or low resolution would make the cap "appear" to have four arrows breaking up the ring that also happen to be symmetrically located at the north/south/east/west positions.

Okay...now you guys have made me wonder....

So I blew up the various pictures of this Florida Mav...and made a composite for comparing:

Looks like an Optical Illusion to me (related to light and digital camera), in my personal opinion....BUT everyone can decide for themselves....

If anyone spots a mysterious Chupacabra in a Mav picture...let me know! :D

If there was a different cap, why hasn't one been seen in the last 34+ years.
We have seen every option that existed for Mavericks.

It's different.. One has lines going out and one has circle patterns going around.
