Hi there! I joined because my friend has a 1980 Granada. Its a beautiful looking car! He restored it actually.
Alas there has been some debate as to what platform it is.
What I have infered is that its just on the Falcon platform. Or manybe just no platform. In other words its a culmination of different platforms. Its Neither Fox, Maverick or Comet.

Can someone help me out? Is there a platform for the 1980 Granada? And if so what is it?
Also besides Wikipedia, is there any proof of what it is?

    Thanks! (y)

Well in my 1st post I said "besides Wikipedia". We dont think its accurate.

I need confirmation just to make 100% sure what the 80 Granada is based on. He says the platform is from 1960 Falcon. And it uses many Mustang parts. But its not based upon the Maverick or the Fox platform.

EDIT: I posted photos of his car to show you how nice it is. But its not coming up :(

If it uses Mustang suspension parts, then it would be Falcon based, not exactly the same as a Falcon, or a Maverick, but loosely based on that design.
I looked around some Granada sites, and they don't seem to say anything. You would think if those guys thought Wikipedia was wrong, they would correct it?

It is not exactly anything but 1980 Granada platform

The Maverick's beginings were the continuation of the original design of the early Falcon chassis - the Granada continued on with further development of that same basic chassis before going to the Fox platform in 1981 - ending what began in 1960.

The Maverick is not the same as the Falcon as the Granada is not the same as the Maverick - only in continuing that basic design

    And :Welcome: from Northeast Pennsylvania

basically a granada up to 81 is a falcon-mustang front end and with leaf springs 8 or 9 inch rearends a mercury monarch or lincoln versailles is the same thing a rebadged granada, after 81 it is a fox body basically a mustang with a different body a lot of parts will interchange with a maverick disc brakes rearends anything before 81 that is I have a 1979 monarch 250 six it is a nice cruiser a granada is not a maverick, not a falcon not a mustang it was designed as a luxury sedan to compete with the foreign jobs they are good cars i drove one for over fourteen years and it was still running good when i sold it just got sick of driving the same car every day I bought the monarch for a parts car for my maverick ,two grand later i am driving it on sundays just can't stand to junk a good car ,however i know where there is a lincoln versailles 9 inch rear 351 windsor oh great here comes my wife better not let her see me typing about another parts car lol:whip:

As for Granadas, I always liked the way they ran and rode, but the styling never did too much for me. I always thought they'd be good undercover cars,....something for when you didn't want people to notice you, LOL

But they were good, nice driving cars
