    Ok, first things first...

Get a rubber pad or some grip tape on that brake pedal!!! One wet shoe slipping on that slick metal will flat RUIN your day!!!!!!

Second, make sure your floors are dry and then get a bottle of water and pour it into your cowl vents. Check to see if your floors are still dry. If they are still dry afterwords, you're golden. If not, do a search on repairing your cowl.

If I were in your place, I wouldn't even think about repairing your front fenders. There are too many people selling rust free Texas sheetmetal for less than it would cost for a body shop to fix those.

You should be able to get your other needed parts from them too and either make a road trip or have a lower cost of shipping since they're just a state over from you. Otherwise, I know there are people in Kentucky that are constantly parting cars out too and will have what you need.

    Hope this helps,
    -Scott H.

No problem, I'm glad to help when I can. Seriously though, even if it's just something temporary, please get something on that brake pedal before your foot slips off of it when you are trying to stop. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine put his car into the back wall of my old garage because of it happening to him (his foot slipped off the pedal and nailed the throttle). I'm just thankful it was only the car and some of the garage that was damaged. Material things can be replaced, a life can't!

To answer your question, yes the fenders will work. Everything from the bottom of the windshield forward is the same on both the 2 door and 4 door cars with a few exceptions (and those are mainly cosmetic).

The only things that will not work off of the front of the 4 door Comet on your Maverick is the front bumper, gravel shield, grill, grill support, and hood. This is because the Comet has a more pronounced bump out on the front of the car where the Maverick has a flatter V to it. As far as I know, everything else from the front of the car can be swapped between the two.

Hell, Paying the full $2500 looks like it would be a steal for the car. Grats on the great find! Welcome to the site and hope you enjoy all the people.

thanks man really appreciate all of the welcomes.
yes i was willing to give $2500 for it but then after i talked to her, she wanted to get rid of it cuz she had only paid $600 for the car so i offered $1000 and we called it a night.

today i got both of the fenders and underlay from a 71 comet 4dr from a really cool guy for $80 with no rust whatsoever.
also called a body shop for paint job, they offered $1800 for two layers of paint and two coats of clear. is that a good deal?
