I have a 72 mav was told the engine was numbers matching and have yet to check. Any who I believe the carb on it is from a later model and the metal line from the choke area broke off. part of the carb actually broke off. So im looking to get a new/used carb for it and not sure what will work and if i should upgrade to a different carb. I have a 1bbl currently.
What do you plan on using the car for? I bought the National Carb from Autozone and it worked perfectly fine for my I6. Links to Oreillys and Autozone for a 72 Mav, I6, 200 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...make=Ford&model=Maverick&year=1972&vi=1132131 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1972-Ford-Maverick/Carburetor/_/N-ipo09Z8vd1l
i have the original autolite off my 72 200 i6. I had just rebuilt it when i got a new motor. The autochoke tube is rusted off on mine twoo.. I was gunna just swap to manual anyway. but PM if you're interested. Throttle body choke and all. throw me a price if you're interested, you pay shipping...
thanks coolvettes. madcow- if your carb has the same issue i see no point in purchasing it from you. i seem to have a choke pull under my dash hanging there. not sure how to setup of the manual choke on this carb. Any info on that? Also would i just block the hole where the metal line went on the carb?
I thought you said your actual carb was busted. Anyway, is your choke pull near the driver kick panel? Because that is a vent... I'mnot sure why you'd have a choke pull on a stock autochoke car. If all that is wrong with yours is the choke heater tube, just fix that. That's all that was wrong with mine, and I just put it together as best as i could and wrapped heat tape around it, warmed up just fine in the winter, started just fine. Also, if you're looking for a little more pep, just switch to a 2bbl, i was thinkin bout it, there's alot a good info on here. And it is a wonderful improvement. And once you look at it, installing a manual choke will be pretty straight forward.
well i would like a bit more pep but its not necessary. and the carb body where the nut screwed on to tighten the metal line in broke off but the carb itself is fine and operates. just want it to be 100% in working order. resto are you looking to sell or give away for cost of shipping? pm me.
