    Hello,

I have a 1973 Comet, and it has the huge front bumper. I have been looking at pictures and i see that some comets/mavericks have a shorter (not as grandma looking) bumper. Is there an internet site that sells the bumper conversion kit with directions?

    Thanks,
    NorCalComet

Nope , everybody that has done it has had to buy used parts or modify what they have

Just to defend the 73's, they did not get the LARGEST front bumper. '73 is actually a 1 year only bumper. If you do the swap, don't junk the original bumper, someone could probably use it.

I saw them in autokrafters for $375 with no core. Not sure how true that is.

Do a search for 'bumper slide'. You might like the look, and you won't have to spend the cash to do a swap. There are several things needed to swap to the difficult to find '71-'72 Comet bumper. Mounting, fender notching, front pan is different, plus that bumper is unique to '71 and '72 Comets. From '73 on the front bumpers for Comet and Mavericks were the same.

You might be surprised at the difference just moving the bumper in 2 or 3 inches will make in the appearance of you car. You can check out my images. I did a 3 inch tuck in the front and a 1 1/2 inch in the rear. :tiphat:

:Welcome:to the board.... I have a 73 Comet also. I did the bumper tuck. I like the semi big bumper compared to the thin one. So, I sucked mine in. Gives it a better look. Good luck!!!

How does one go about switching the bigger bumper for the smaller bumper? Is there alot of modafication that needs to be done, or is it a fairly simple job?

    Thanks,
    NorCalComet

    Thanks,
