hi, quick question... i have an eec v i want to install.

is there enough room on the cowel / firewall to cut into and mount the ecu? i kept the mounting box from the explorer i got then engine from.
i want to install it off to the right of the center of the firewall, close to the top of the firewall.

heads up... eec V you will have to disable PATS to get it to run according to most others that have done it... on the other hand in my experience i have swapped eec v computers between mustangs and had no problem with PATS... so i guess let us know how that turns up.... as for your question... i think if you wanted to keep you ac/heater box behind the dash then the eec would not be able to mount there... i mounted mine behind the passenger kick panel... mine is eec iv

Re you going to use the Explorer harness? It's massive compared to some Mustang, and aftermarket ones.

I used a 88 mustang wire loom in mine . I mounted my ecm under the heater - a/c box with valcor . It has been hanging there for the past 9 or 10 yrs. now..

There is no PATS in the explorer till 99, but even if there is you can tune it out. I have the strategy for the explorer EEC V and can burn a chip to delete the down stream O2's, trans functions, Thermoractor, and EVAP.

As for mounting, I put mine behind the glove compartment with a custom harness.
