Wasnt it the 2.8 they used later for the little Broncos? That rattle trap solid lifter motor. Run forever though.
Take a look at these Maverick prototype pics, which have some similarities with the Capri http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=760&c=20 http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=759&c=20 http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=755&c=20
Maybe if you guys wouldnt have RAN THE CRAP OUT OF so many cool old cars we would have more still around.
In 1978, while in college, my buddy next door had one of the second gen Capris ... they had bigger bumpers added (rather nicely ). He bought his second hand, and the original owner had done a few mods to the V6. It was a stick, and it really did run pretty strong compared to what else was out there at the time.
Use to see those Capri's around here a lot in the day. Have a friend that pulled the v6 and trans from a Capri and installed it in a T Bucket.
This one looks like the Capri and a fastback '68 Torino from the side, an AMC Rambler from the front, and a '68 Dodge Charger from the rear. All in all, a pretty cool looking car.
I had a 73 Capri for a couple of years back in the early 80s. Definitely a unique Ford but it just didn't really leave an impression on me like my Mav did. I think they changed it to be a Mustang wannabe in ~78.
a lot of people in the area around me pulled the v6 engines out of those Capris and dropped hot little 289's in them. Those cars would run with the big ones
2012 FORD CAPRI down Unda' 2102 FORD Capri down under. Look at that long bonnet, eh! Could wiggle a Coyote in dere' mate!
