I have wanted a foxbody for a while but never had the money and always found overpriced pos hatch cars lol. Anyway a friend of mine on a local forum posted up a coupe that has draglites for a very good price. I told him I would pick it up today and I did. It's a 93 coupe with a 2.3 auto and a blowed head gasket I believe. The 351w I built for the maverick will end up going in it over the winter.
Great race cars. I'm partial to the fox coupes. You'd be surprised how long that 7.5 rear holds up. Buddies got a '79 coupe w/mild 393 stroker/c4 3.45 geared 7.5 rear. on a 175 shot, car goes 7-ohs. If he'd spring for some good tires and a good converter it'd go 6s.
Its got 3.73 gears in it. Not sure if its open or not. I know ls1 guys going low 7's on stock rears so hopefully it will last a while
i definitely got a sweet spot in my heart for the fox bodes. i had one before i got a maverick. if it wasnt for smog requirements in California then i would most likely still have it instead of a maverick. you should be able to find an 8.8 in a salvage yard that has gears in it already with little effort. they were so popular to re-gear that its easy to find.
You lucky dog That's my problem here too, people want 5K for an old beat down 2.3 car I'd love to find a decent one for under a grand!
Oh no, another project! Looks like a good find, but how ya gonna find time to do it and the Mav? Looks like ya gonna have to build a bigger shop and hire some help! Just raggin ya buddy. You're gonna have a fleet of drag cars before long! At least the fox body stuff is pretty easy to find, and some of it is cheap, too.
The notch back fox body is my favorite, I bought a 86 2.3 notch from my mother in law for 400 bucks.. I wish I still had it...
I have the majority of the stuff to put it together other than headers and mounts. I will start on this one after christmas probaly
