Hi Everyone Could anyone tell me if there is a key number written on the locks on a 71 Maverick Grabber. After sorting through all the parts that came with the car there nowhere to be seen. I appreciate any help Thanks Phil UK
Mine didn't have an ignition lock or key when I bought it so I got a new set from Autokrafters. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=53593
I do know on older Fords that the passenger’s side door lock has a key code stamped on it. I don’t know if Ford continued this practice with the double sided tooth keys or not.
Yes it is easy. You will need a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel and then at the top right you will see some small screws, take those out and it should come right out. Then do the opposit with the new ignition lock.
i bought a set of matching locks after taking mine out. doors didn't match, neither door matched the column. http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-3-Ford-M...pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Really difficult to get the ignition out without the key. I would get a door key made and use that. You have to have a key in order to turn the cylinder so you can get teh ignition out. Removing a few screws wil not get the key ignition out.
no, they didn't. looked that up in a catalog for blank keys recently, that showed different keys for ford europe and america.
So, it's not likely a locksmith in the UK, would have the correct style key, if you went to one anyways.
