Im using mustang frame mounts[V8] on my maverick and I had to slide the tranny and motor up as far as it would go to get the motor mounts to sit on them but now im afraid that the there may not be enough drive shaft yoke on the tail of the tranny. Now if I were to swap to maverick frame mounts[V8] would my engine and tranny slide back so that more of the yoke is in the tail shaft?
Check and see if your frame mounts are on backwards. I did the same thing at first and the yoke wouldnt slide all the way in. Not sure if there is a difference in between the two someone else can answer that.
What year Mustang? If you're using a '65 3-piece mount then there's a left mount and right motor mount.
Try em reversed---left on right, right on left. And if you're running a 9" rear, there are long and short pinion yokes to compensate for length too.
i believe these are what i have http://www.bcclassicandperformance.com/UserData/Images/Large/116346.jpg @shaneb, i did a motor swap 6 to 8 same tranny(C4) and drive shaft tho
I tried them reverse when the motor was first put in and it didnt work reversed, i still have the factory 8inch rear that came in the car. do u know where i can get a longer yoke?
thats why i wanted to know if u have to slide the engine forward if you use maverick frame mounts instead of the mustang ones like i have, dont have the money for a longer drive shaft lol.........
I did the v8 swap as well and went with the v8 frame mounts from autokrafters. Im sure someone here has some you could purchase instead of buying a new drive shaft.
How do you know ? A longer pinion yoke just might be an easier solution to his problem, if his shaft length is just an inch or so too short.
